Plastic Injection mold is an important tool for producing plastic products. Due to the working environment, it needs to accept the difficult condition from pressure and temperature. Therefore, proper and correct maintenance of the injection mold can prolong its service life, and improve production efficiency and reduce business costs accordingly. So, how can the service life of injection molds be extended?

 

4 Points to pay attention on during the injection molding production

 

1)In the process of injection molding, the melted plastic material enters into the injection mold through a gate by a certain pressure to shape a plastic product. Therefore, the injection mold will bear a lot of injection pressure. In this case, adjusting the injection pressure, injection speed, clamping force and the distance of tie rod correctly and reasonably can reduce the risk of damaging to the mould.

 

2). In the use of injection molds, it is necessary to control the mould temperature reasonably and correctly. And at the same time, the workers should keep eyes tightly on the status of the mold during moulding. If any abnormality is found, they must stop the machine immediately and troubleshoot the problem or report to manager to solve the problem effectively.

 

3).Before closing the injection mold when it is on machine, you should pay attention to check whether there are any foreign objects in mold cavity & core side, especially, whether there is residual plastics which has not been removed timely. If there is, it must be cleaned up in time, in order to avoid the possibility to damage to the mold when close it.

 

4). Before using the mold for injection production, it must be operated by well-trained professional staff who is familiar with the operation sequence of this mold. According to previous experience of Suntime Mould, mold operation errors can cause damage of molds or mold components during production.

 

2 points of Maintenance of injection mold after production

 

1). After the injection molding production is completed, the mold should be closed to avoid moist air in the cavity and core, which would cause rust normally. We also can use anti-rust grease or mold release agent inside the core and cavity to prevent the mold from rusting if it will not be used for a long time. However, it should be noted that when reusing the mould, the anti-rust grease or other substances applied should be wiped clean to avoid possible problems. Meanwhile, the cavity and core need to be cleaned regularly to avoid corrosion which may caused by residual products.

 

2). If the injection mold is not used for a long time, the residual water in the cooling water channel should be removed in time to avoid corrosion in the water channel. In Suntime Mould, if customers’ moulds stay with us for production but not been used for very long time, we will do maintenance every 3 months to make sure customer can have successful and timely moulded products when needed.
